Crissey Road Corridor

Acting as the eastern gateway to Spencer Township, this corridor serves as the critical transition zone between the heavy commercial traffic of Airport Highway and the residential north. With the highest daily traffic counts in the township (~6,658 ADT), the strategy focuses on logistics optimization, aesthetic standardization, and safety modernization.

Corridor Modernization Strategy

Logistics Flow Optimization (2025-2027)

To manage the high volume of logistics traffic, the Lucas County Engineer has fully funded two major intersection upgrades. A roundabout at Crissey & Frankfort Road is scheduled for construction in 2025, followed by Crissey & Angola Road in 2027. These upgrades will eliminate current bottlenecks, reduce crash frequency, and streamline freight velocity through the corridor.

Site Reclamation & Abatement

The corridor currently contains a concentration of legacy scrap and salvage operations. SOAR CIC is utilizing brownfield remediation grants and nuisance abatement enforcement to incentivize the transition of these properties. Our goal is to prepare these sites for modern commercial redevelopment that aligns with the aesthetic standards of a township gateway.

Multi-Modal Safety

The TMACOG 2055 Plan identifies Crissey Road as a “Committed Bicycle Facility.” Future development will include widened shoulders and improved signage to safely separate commercial truck traffic from cyclist and pedestrian activity, particularly near the interface with the Oak Terrace neighborhood.
